Hey, my name is Cooper Whitney I am 17 years old and go to Little Elm High School. I like to draw and play video games. My top three games are Puyo Puyo Tetris, Shovel Knight, and Minecraft. I have one dog. My favorite movie series is Mission Impossible. My favorite band is Hootie and the Blowfish.
Firstly I overlayed the image with a color using the Photo Filter tool this gave the image a warmer feel. Then I used the Vibrance tool to increase the contrast and pop of the image.
And here is what I got by messing around in photoshop
To whiten the teeth I used the lasso tool to select the teeth then I used the level tools to increase the amount of whiteness that is in the teeth.
In these videos, it showed us how to use the curve feater in photoshop to apply or take away a color from an image. That is how the image above went from being very yellow to a nice mixture of colors. The video also showed us how to adjust the color intensity individually and in groups. We adjust them individually by selecting one color and moving that color to increase the intensity of the one color, or you can use the auto button to edit all the colors at once.
I made my character in Photoshop. I started by creating a head like shape using the ellipse tool then I took the eraser tool to flatten the face slightly. After that I used the ellipse tool again to make three circles for the hair, I combined them by using Alt+Ctrl+Shift+E. After combining them I used the eraser tool to shape out the characters hair and make it more cartoon like. I used a rounded rectangle to make the neck and the ellipse tool to make part of the chest. I made the Jacket and Shirt next for this I used 3 rectangles and I molded them using the eraser tool so that they would not look as blocky. I also used three rectangles to make the legs I used two rectangles for the legs and one for the waist.
After that I used the core colors I had and darkened them slightly to create shadows in darker areas. Ex. The Ear Canal, The Outward Edges of the Hair, and Under the eyes. After adding shadows I added highlights in between the shadows. Ex. The Pants legs, The Hair, and The Jacket Sleeves. The I blurred the shadows, highlights, and neutral tones together so nothing stood out.
Then Finally I went to blank face and Chloe to grab the eyes, mouth, and arms. I slightly adjusted the eyes so that they would look the direction that I wanted without causing any problems in character animator. I fully redid the mouth so that it would look like he was talking to someone next to him and so that his mouth would not go over where his face stopped. Finally I redid the arms using the paintbrush, rectangle tool and the eraser tool to make the arms look apart of my character.
The video taught me about the importance of arms. It showed me how to use the arms when I am animating character so that the character feels more alive. it also showed me how to avoid making the arms to over stretch and to avoid making them bend the wrong way.
